Fit for Royalty - Hotel Imperial Vienna

A royal and chocolate torte-filled stay in Vienna.

During my multi-city trip to Europe, I was constantly munching on chocolate. I thought I could not have another bite of chocolate, but then I tried The Imperial Torte from Hotel Imperial!

For a close up on the torte box click here.

Each individually wrapped torte comes with mouth-watering chocolate icing, a fusion of chocolate cream, and marzipan. It comes in 4 flavors: Das Original, Schwarze Orange, Feine Himbeere and a limited edition Wiener Kaffee. In case you wanted a sample, you’d be delighted to find that an attendant will put two mini ones in your room each night!

Now that you’ve witnessed my chocolate obsession - let’s take a closer look at the historic property.

Hotel Imperial is a Schönbrunn Palace. It was previously the private residence of Duke Philipp of Württemberg. It turned into Hotel Imperial on the occasion of the World’s Fair in 1873.

During my stay, I had a chance to experience two different suites - The Royal Suite (pictured here) and The Elizabeth Suite (pictured towards the bottom of the page). Each one had its own charm.

In the Royal Suite, I was welcomed with double doors, 50-feet high ceilings, unique art pieces, plush furniture, parquet flooring, marbled bathrooms and plenty of closet space.

The suite can be categorized into three main sections: entry, living room and bedroom. To have a closer look, you can find it on my IG reels page.

The suites can also be re-configured and can be an ideal setting for formal functions, photoshoots, or banquets. There was also an option to expand the Royal Suite with adjacent connecting rooms to create a 5,000-sq.ft. private enclave.

Meet Philipp, the Lion! He is the official mascot of Hotel Imperial - he followed us everywhere throughout the hotel!

Tip: You must stop at the Grand Staircase and admire it from many angles! If you're lucky - maybe you'll see the dear and lion.

When I am not wandering around the hotel, you can find me at Cafe Imperial or the Imperial Bar. We particularly enjoyed breakfast at Cafe Imperial as there was a continental breakfast buffet and additional made-to-order items.

I highly recommend the scrambled eggs and an order of pancakes. The pancakes melted in my mouth. They also had many options for teas, coffees, and even champagne if you’d like a morning kick.

What would you prefer to do for a mid-day break at Hotel Imperial?

A visit to the Imperial Bar for a divine hot chocolate or burning calories at the top floor gym?

Or… take a nap.

My favourite moment was staying at the Elizabeth suite. Though it is smaller than the Royal Suite, it also has a separate living room with a sofa and a workspace. You will find me here on my next visit to Hotel Imperial.

The Elizabeth Suite comes in various colors, but I lucked out on blue - my favorite color!

Tip: the Elizabeth Suite also comes with a full-fledged walk-in closet. You will be able to hang up all your outfits. There is a McDonald’s two blocks away to curb all your junk food tendencies.
