5 Star Pet-Friendly Haven - Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade

A Pet-Friendly Gem with Culinary Delights - Our Memorable Stay at Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade

During our recent trip to Lisbon, we had the pleasure of staying at the exquisite Sofitel Lisbon. As devoted pet owners, finding a truly pet-friendly luxury hotel can be quite a challenge, but the Sofitel Lisbon surpassed all our expectations.

From the moment we entered the lobby, it was evident that Sofitel Lisbon takes its pet-friendly promise seriously. Our beloved four-legged companion was not only welcomed with open arms but also pampered with personalized treats and a cozy bed.

Upon stepping into our luxurious corner room, we were immediately greeted by panoramic views that took our breath away. The private balcony stretched along the living room, offering uninterrupted views of the cityscape. From sunrise to sunset, the changing hues of the sky played beautifully against the city's architecture, creating a visual symphony that we couldn't get enough of.

Given the festive weekend - as fireworks enthusiasts, we were overjoyed to find that our balcony provided a front-row seat to some of the most stunning displays we've ever witnessed.

The room itself was a masterpiece of design and comfort. The blend of modern luxury with touches of classic elegance created an inviting atmosphere that made us feel instantly at home.

I am happy to report that the attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the plush bedding to the well-appointed furnishings. The ample space allowed us to relax, unwind, and enjoy each other's company without ever feeling crowded.

The peaceful ambiance of our room combined with the lively bursts of color in the sky, created a magical experience that we'll cherish forever.

When staying at Sofitel, you can also select in-room dining for breakfast or head down to Matiz. The breakfast spread at Matiz featured a respectable variety of options to suit various tastes and preferences.

From freshly baked pastries to a selection of cheeses, cold cuts, and fruits, the choices were diverse enough to satisfy both traditional and health-conscious palates. The inclusion of local delicacies added a touch of authenticity to the experience.

Lisbon's summer weather proved to be the ideal backdrop for our stay. The warm, sunny days and comfortably cool evenings allowed us to fully enjoy the balcony and its surrounding beauty. Mornings were spent sipping coffee while watching the city come to life, and afternoons were dedicated to soaking up the sun's rays and appreciating the gentle breeze. With such perfect weather, every moment on the balcony felt like a precious gift.

Furthermore, the proximity to nearby parks and open spaces also made it incredibly convenient for us to take our dog for refreshing walks.

Notable parks near the hotel include:

  1. Eduardo VII Park: a great place for a leisurely walk, a picnic, or simply enjoying the scenery.

  2. Jardim Botânico da Universidade de Lisboa (Botanical Garden of Lisbon University): features a diverse collection of plants and trees, providing a peaceful escape from the urban bustle.

Our dinner date at Matiz showcased the artistry of the chefs and the richness of Portuguese cuisine. The restaurant's elegant decor and warm lighting set the tone for an intimate dining experience. The menu highlighted local ingredients and creative culinary techniques.

Starting with the appetizers, the delicate seafood ceviche and flavorful petiscos (small plates) provided a tantalizing introduction to the meal. The main courses were equally as amazing. The perfectly grilled fish, accompanied by a medley of seasonal vegetables, was a testament to the chef's skill. Equally impressive was the succulent meat dish, cooked to perfection and served with a delectable sauce that left us craving for more.

The dessert selection was a sweet crescendo to our dinner. We opted for the “Must Eat Convent Sweet Treats from Portugal” - the balance of sweetness, textures, and aromas was the perfect way to conclude our meal. The presentation was a visual feast that mirrored the artistry of the flavors themselves. Intricate patterns of syrup, and vibrant fruit garnishes transformed each dessert into a work of art.

Furthermore, the waitstaff's attentiveness and their genuine passion for the cuisine added an extra layer of warmth to the dining experience.
